Short Description: The project was completed in Larsen and Toubro Ltd at Coimbatore and we use an EOM, (Electrically Operated Machine) which includes smps, pic microcontroller, toggle switch and a solenoid arrangement for the purpose of distant operation of Moduled Case Circuit Breaker. This is suitable for factories, large scale industries etc.
Regulated power circuit with interlocking of solenoid is an automatic operator fitted on the MCCB (Moduled Case Circuit Breaker).
MCCB’s are generally used for industrial purpose where rating starts from 100Amps to 1600Amps.
Advancement in technology has introduced electronics in switchgear industry
This project focus on distinct operation of MCCB’s, and includes features like regulation, interlocking etc.
The main advantage of this project is interlocking and time control operation.
This project uses PIC micro controller for the interlocking and time control operation.
A Switched Mode Power Supply (SMPS) is used for the wide range adaptability of power supply.
This whole system can be used as an Electrically Operated Machine
230v AC supply is given to smps circuit. The smps convert this 230V AC to 9V DC. This 9V DC is again given towards another small regulating circuit where 9V DC converts to 5V DC.
This conversion is done because of that the pic 16F877 microcontroller which we programmed can withstand only up to 5V.Then the 5V power is forwarded towards the mosfet /toggle switch which is used to energize the coil inside the circuit breaker.
Thus MCCB’s can be able to operate from a distance. The interlocking operation of switches used is another great advantage for the industries.
