A job application letter or cover letter typically accompanies each resume you send out. If you write a well cover letter, you may get a job interview or your resume may be ignored. So it is worth to effort to writing effective cover letters.
In fact, when you’re seeking a job, the first thing you should do is to prepare a cover letter.
Here is a teacher application letter (cover letter) template. It is in full block format (all elements are aligned left).
Mr. Alan Brown
[School Name] Elementary School
Smithfield, CA 08055
Dear Mr. Brown,
I am interested in applying for a teaching position, on the elementary level, in your school district. As a 200X graduate of [College-Name] College, I have student teaching experience on the fourth and sixth grade level, in both suburban and urban school districts.
I have a very strong interest in pursuing a teaching career. With experience working at both the elementary and high school levels, as well as in activities outside of the traditional classroom, I have a diverse background with much to offer.
At the present time I am teaching “at risk” preschool children. This position enables me to provide these students with a “head start” in mastering basic skills. I am challenged to be creative, nurturing and patient.
My resume is enclosed. I will forward an official copy of my transcript along with references under separate cover.
I will contact you next week to discuss employment opportunities. I look forward to speaking with you.
Thank you for your consideration.
